Meditation has become a supreme necessity in today’s fast life. We have entangled ourselves so much that we seldom have time to think about ourselves as a living being. Understanding of oneself, of one’s purpose is one of the aims of meditation. All the more, various kinds of physical, mental and psychological benefits are also associated with it.

Studies have proved that patients who do meditation respond to medicines better as compared to their previous state. Healthy persons can achieve the much needed ‘balance’ in life through meditation. Such a balance would be a holistic one; physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. You tend to fight diseases and infections better if you have been practicing meditation on a daily basis.

The logic behind such claims is that anxiety and stress have shown to activate many kinds of diseases in us. These two enemies of man are kept under effective check with the help of regular meditation. You also get uplifted as far as your spirituality is concerned. You come to know that there is only one ‘power’ that is running this universe and all the disputes on the basis of religion, caste, class, color, etc. are just man made boundaries. Such an attitude is extremely important for a new world order.

Meditation develops contentment and relaxation in you. You tend to feel happy with the achievements of your life and slowly start developing aversion towards the blind race of making more and more money. In fact, in today’s materialistic world, money has become a very important touchstone for measuring one’s success and this itself has given birth to many social and moral ills.

I friend of mine who used to experience alarmingly high blood pressure without any specific reason. He undertook self-study in meditation and practiced it for 6 months. To his and his doctor’s utter surprise, now he is a perfectly normal human being.

Meditation experts also say that oxygen is the base of a healthy body. During meditation oxygenated blood reaches different parts of our body like brain, heart, digestive organs etc. in profuse amount. This leads to better functioning of these organs and equips them with the power to fight and ward off diseases.

It has also been shown that various kinds of hormonal changes also take place during meditation. In a study, hormonal patterns during and after meditation were compared in people of different age groups. It was found that during meditation a person’s hormonal pattern was similar to a person who was 7-10 years younger than him.

Though detailed studies are under progression in this field, it can be safely said that a person who meditates on a regular basis is able to keep age effects at bay to the tune of 7-10 years. Moreover, it’s common knowledge that hormonal imbalances are also a cause for various diseases. So, we have seen that meditation is a cure for various diseases that may have physical, mental or psychological origin.

Meditation is a pathway to spiritual heights. This can make us to achieve complete relaxation, inner peace, mental clarity and awareness. We can penetrate the problems that are being experienced and the changes we want to improve our lives by meditating regularly. We can move near to self-awareness and self-realization through this process. It should be regularly performed at least once in a day at the same time in the morning or evening.

Meditation is practiced all over the world by everyone, every culture and traditions. The forms of which may be different but the result is the same. Need of a spiritual guru is not must but it would be much better if it is started with the help of guru.

A peaceful place can be selected by our own not to get disturbed by outer world. It may be quiet and comfortable room. We can have a candle or incense stick burning to make it comfortable for us to concentrate. We should start with closing our eyes and breathing naturally. Now begin to breathe deeply from the abdomen filling the belly and lung with air. We must feel grateful to God by focusing on our heart.

The feeling that everything is disappearing around and our focus on heart should be continued. Our meditation must be deepened at this particular point and our breathing process be continued. Disturbance in thoughts be allowed to pass away. Some mantra of our liking like ‘OM’ may be recited while focusing on the breath is continued with awareness and alertness.

We may start it from 5 to 10 minutes in a day and more time be added up to 30 minutes a day or twice a day. It is advised not to force our ways but let it open up like a flower. Listening of spiritual music and spiritual speech of Guru helps a lot. Don’t be impatient when we miss for a day but try to feel the change that is experienced.

Spiritual meditation makes us to praise our God for giving us every thing. This realization is spiritual meditation. The negative feeling is expelled from our thoughts. Both spiritual and traditional meditation is a process of cleansing and healing our mind and body but spiritual may relate to our religious point of view. Relaxation and understanding of this cosmos is to be created by both of theses meditation. Both forms meditation make us feel more complete in our lives.

Spiritual meditation concentrates on our ideal and focuses on love, happiness and peace. It makes us feel that the beauty and goodness is spreading in our lives. It is our personal choice to which forms we select for ourselves but results are life changing and pleasure finding. Personal awareness and spiritual growth is achieved through this process.

The deep effect of meditation can be felt on our mind, body and our personal relations. The ultimate goal of meditation is self-realization. Relaxation benefits and spiritual growth can be achieved through this process. It is a discovery of our consciousness which has no ending at all .

It was rediscovered by Lord Buddha about twenty five hundred years ago and was prescribed by him as remedy of universal problems. This method is non-sectarian method but it uproots the impurities of our mind and provides happiness of complete freedom from all attachment.

Vipashyana is really a healing of human suffering and all self-created problems. It is through self-observation that a self-transformation is possible in this meditation. The deep interlink between our mind and body is chiefly focused on this meditation. A balanced mind which is full of love and compassion for others is discovered in this method. This self-exploratory road leads us to eradicate our mental impurities.

Our thoughts, feelings, judgments and sensations are made clear to us through this meditation. Self-control, awareness, peace and worries are removed from our life. There are certain restrictions that are imposed by it. We should avoid killing, sexual activities, stealing, intoxications and allegations. We should develop mastery over our mind by knowing the natural reality of movement of our breath. Our mind become quieter and more focused than before. We learn the love of kindness or goodwill and purity of mind is developed. A mental training is actually practiced by it. Vipassana can develop our keenness to improve physically and mentally. This meditation has been kept in its original form and is offered freely.

The result of this form is gradual with continued practice. We expect all our problems to be solved in day or two. The more it is practiced with dedicated mind, the better it is to get freedom from all our miseries. We should find a place to sit comfortably. We may sit on the floor or chair. Try to close the eyes and remain still to focus on continuously. The practitioners should be mindful of his in and out breathing. Whenever we feel little bit distracted, try to refocus on our breathing.

The meditator will experience the feeling of itching, aches, dullness and some time stiffness. Don’t feel disturbed because this will disappear shortly. This is not symptoms of any disease but the results of natural sensitivity of our body. Energetic concentration will make such symptoms to disappear gradually. We may some time see images but this the creation our mind. We should have patience and our mind not to be disturbed any materialistic thoughts. The negative thoughts must be replaced by positive thoughts so that our mind remain undisturbed and find peace. Vipassana meditation is regularly practiced in India in its original style and method.

Stressful symptoms of our body may reduce in just ten minutes of breathing exercises. Nervous system of our body is controlling our breathing systems which makes a sort of bridge between the inner and outer world of our system.

The relaxation techniques may be different to focus and control on our breath. The most natural technique of meditation is breathing exercise. The disturbance in our thoughts can be controlled by moving our focus on the breath.

Relaxation meditation which is performed at the time of going to bed, called ‘progressive exercises’. Move slowly by breathing deeply and count up to ten or twenty and then try to relax the muscles while breathing out until the body is totally relaxed. It should be started from our calf muscles upward and finish at the face and take more deep breaths until we fall asleep.

Relaxation meditation is a very powerful antidote which can easily relieve us from any kinds of stresses. Relaxation methods may be visualization, progressive muscle relaxation, deep breathing, meditation and yoga can relieve us from all problems. The feeling of joy and stress free calmness can be had by practicing it regularly. It is not merely an exercise but also prepare us to face all problems of life calmly.

The relaxation meditation takes our body system back into balance. It is through this process that our breathing is deepened, stress hormones are reduced and the pace of heart rate and blood pressure is slowed down with relaxation in the muscles of our body.

It not only calms down our physical stresses but our energy of the body is also toned up. It tones up our motivation and problem solving capabilities. It should be a routine work of our lives which can be once or twice a day. It may be strictly adhered to as a daily routine thing before taking any other responsibilities. We can not select any technique as the best but it should be in accordance with our needs, fitness and preferences.

The technique that resonates with breathing system is best for us to practice. The techniques of relaxation are not difficult to learn but daily practice can make us an expert. The benefits of meditation are various and our stress can also be reduced.

Certain solo relaxation techniques are adopted by those who prefer to live in isolation and these methods make our mind calm and recharge our batteries. If we prefer social get together, the class setting stimulate and help us to find what we are looking for. If we make practicing with the tendency of mixing up with other, we always remain motivated. Deep breathing is the best source of relaxation and it can also be mixed up with aromatherapy and music. Patience is the key to learn meditation which leads us to relaxation.

Physical damage to all parts of our body can be caused by this stress. Meditation makes our body calm and keeps us free from any kind of stress in order to prevent it from getting any further damage.

Manifold advantages can be possible through meditation only. Our heart rate and breathing is slowed down, blood pressure is normalized and oxygen is used efficiently. Our immune system gets improved and our aging process gets slow down. This makes our mind clear and our creativity is enhanced hugely. Persons who are regularly doing meditation try to give up smoking, drinking and the use of drugs. Meditation is a wonderful technique to make us stress free.

An environment of silence and privacy is kept while practicing it but an experienced meditator finds it comfortable at any place. The spiritual awakening is also possible in this method. We should try to focus our mind on breathing. It can provide very effective short-term stress free and long-term health benefits. These benefits are experienced in just one session in the morning or evening.

This doesn’t require any experienced teacher or guru but can be learnt from any source or book. It may be bit difficult in the beginning for some persons but it requires patience to continue. Meditation does not give any kind of side effects like medicines or relaxing drugs. Persons who have some physical limitations will find it quite comfortable to practice than doing some strenuous physical exercises to get stress free relief. It needs patience and some strict control in our daily diets.

We can sit in any comfortable position of our liking with closed eyes. This keeps us unattached to our wandering thoughts that are disturbing us. It is practice which makes us comfortable and stress free. We can start our practice with five minutes duration and prolong it up to thirty minutes. This meditation will be easier and comfortable to practice with the passage of time. It may bring the balance back into our body and our breathing is deepened, reducing stress with slowing down our heart rate and blood pressure and our muscles relaxed. All our problems and diseases are cured and our productivity is boosted up.

Everyone can take all benefits after a little practice. It is not difficult to learn the technique to keep ourselves relaxed. These methods may be different but give the same results. We may select breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, meditation, visualization and yoga. We should keep up our routine of practice once or twice a day. We must set our daily work exactly at the same time.

We may try to practice it when we awake early in the morning which is the best time and before going to the bed in the night. Relaxation technique of our choice should be selected by us from the many techniques available like Breathing meditation, Guided meditation, Mantra meditation, etc.

The modern life of man has become so fast that we can not think of relaxation in life. Meditation is the only technique by adopting it, we can have relief of getting peace of mind. There are many techniques of practicing it regularly to get results.

Our ailment are cured like blood pressure is lowered down and heart rate is balanced. It makes us to reach up to the God. We are supposed to focus on one particular thing to keep our wandering thoughts away from our mind. Mind feels the ecstasy and the consciousness are achieved. Mental and bodily problems are solved.

A scientific study of meditation has raised interest of the people in it. The effect of meditation has been studied and applied its effect on our cardiovascular and respiratory function of our body. It is widely believed that it can improve the function of body and diseases are cured with its regular practice.

Meditation is just like an ocean which deeply effects our mental and body system. Its regularity and continuity must be maintained. It is not an option but a compulsory activity of our lives. We can start it at any stage and make it daily routine of our lives. We must take out our time to think of God who has given us everything. We can pay our creator a gift in the form of meditation. Don’t expect anything from meditation but try to give ourselves to it.

A question is raised whether the qualities like love, compassion and forgiveness can be neurologically measured in the brain while doing meditation. It has been proved through the technique of magnetic resonance imaging that meditation can bring a change in the behavior of brain. Science has to understand a transformation that is taken place in our brain with some exercises or meditation. Even neurological study has shown that meditation and exercises can affect our mental health. Theses changes are seen in the children, adults and even in handicapped. Even the myriad problems of the society are easily solved. Meditation to bring transformation in our mind and body is practiced with dedication.

There is provision of home-study courses for personal growth. These courses include the origin of meditation through teacher training. It is wisely said that training by teacher is needed to practice it properly. The teacher can expose his experience and the highest knowledge and guidance regarding meditation.

A study has revealed that meditator experienced an important activity in the brain and the strength of insula in the brain is activated with meditation. We are producing compassion and our emotional vocalization is also exposed during the meditation. There is no doubt that meditation can play a very important role in changing our personality and peace of mind is only possible through this process. Keep materialistic things away from our lives to get happiness. We should keep patience and regularity in order to bring positive change.

There are many types of meditation. Every body wants relaxation and peace of mind which can only be possible in meditation. Our union with the God can be made through the meditation.

Life is full of tension and meditation makes it stress free and life becomes enjoyable. We can reach up to our consciousness through it. The types of meditation can be different but the results of all these forms are the same. It is only through meditation that we will be free from this materialistic world and complete ecstasy is very much possible. Every type of meditation is beneficial for all of us. It should be practiced in a very relaxed and comfortable environment.

Breathing through nose

We can start our meditation by paying attention on our breathing at least for few minutes. This is generally known as ‘Pranayama’. Try to relax with closed eyes and our focus should be on our breathing. Oxygen to our lungs will be provided and breathing be continued through our nose. Wandering mind can be controlled by focusing our attention on the breathing. This practice may be done for few minutes or more. This will make us relax and keep us free from the worldly materialistic life. This is the simplest form of meditation and can be practiced by any person.

Meditation with free mind

Awareness without any object can be practiced with the same benefits. This makes our mind free from all kinds of thoughts. We should adopt this form of meditation with still sitting pose like a lotus or cross-legged and make our mind remain silent for at least ten minutes. It may be little bit difficult but it is not impossible to do because every movement is going on in our mind. We can call it an empty mind meditation and is really beneficial.

Mantra Meditation

A mantra can control our wandering of mind and its very helpful for concentration. We can use any mantra of our liking or provided by our spiritual guru, to meditate. A specific chanting of mantra has divine power which can solve various problems of our lives.

Meditate while walking

This form of meditation can be practiced by any one because it is easy to focus on our breathing while we are walking. Our focus should be on our legs and feet when we are making contact with the ground and breathing attention be continued. We can easily bring our thoughts back by breathing and walking. It is practiced outside the room or we can find some quiet place with level ground to practice it properly.

Insight Meditation

This type of mediation is called ‘Vipassana Meditation’. It is an art to become aware of the things going on in our mind. We watch our breath and our thoughts, feeling, even sights and sound movement going around us without any involvement or judgment analysis.

Contemplating Meditation

An idea may be contemplated in order to focus on, while meditating. It is a method to give us an understanding that our rationalizing mind will not be able to bring us.

Meditation is essential to get peace of mind and relaxaced body. There are easy steps to meditation to help us for proper practice. It makes us free from all kinds of our mental and physical problems. Many diseases like blood pressure and heart problems can be cured by practicing it regularly. Certain restrictions are imposed by us on ourselves in order to get relief. Focus has to be maintained on one particular thing or candle light in order to keep away wandering thoughts. Don’t let these thoughts disturb us but we must refocus on our breathing. We should start it with patience and practice it regularly.

Meditation will give us relief which we cannot have even by taking any kinds of medicines. There are many methods to be adopted of meditation but the results of all these are the same. There are certain steps which are to be followed while doing meditation.

Quiet place: We should try to find a space where there is least disturbance. The room should be quiet and comfortable to get start. We can practice it even in our car but the results will not be as satisfying as we want. It is this situation which will provide relief of our choice. We can relax our mind and body after practicing it properly and patiently.

Be comfortable: We should try to be in a comfortable while doing meditation. It is better to avoid lying down on bed because this forces us to get sleep. Meditation can be done at the time of going to sleep or after awakening early in the morning. It is always good to practice it in the day time. We can practice it while sitting on a chair or a cushion but try to keep our body erect and straight spine in a relaxaced posture.

Listen some divine music: There is silence all-around but some music of our liking or religious hymns may be put on in a low volume to keep our mind relaxed. This helps us to let our positive thoughts penetrate into our consciousness. We find ourselves very comfortable near to Almighty.

Focus and refocus on deep breathing: We can make it simple by feeling the sensation of inhalation and exhalation. It will fill our lungs with air and our abdomen is expanded. The wandering thoughts are kept under control by refocusing on it. Some doubts will be created but let them go away. Keep our concentration on some thing without getting disturbed from outside problems.

Meditate as long as we want: We can meditate as long as we keep our focus but don’t remove the focus from the breathing. It becomes easier later on to remain in this meditative mode.

Allow light radiate from Heaven: We should allow the light and clearness from heaven to radiate to fill our body with ecstasy and complete relaxation. Try to feel the two energies mixing. We should try to move our attention to the crown of the head and try to imagine a centre point of energy there.
